Synopsis: THE DAY WE CAME BACK FROM MARS is a feature-length documentary which reveals Brazil’s enormous challenge in facing the climate emergency and affirmation of its global role in the search for reflections and solutions to the issue. Aiming for a solid foundation, the narrative traces a broad historical arc, from the emergence of modern science to the present day, in order to contextualize the relations between science and society throughout this period and point out reflections and proposals for the construction of a new present. The documentary will highlight ongoing projects in Brazil led by indigenous and quilombola communities, highlighting the importance of ancestral knowledge and its decisive contribution to dealing with the problem of the climate emergency.
